Training Information
Welcome to the Liberty Ambulance Service Training Center for CPR and more. We have been providing training to area
health care and residential facilities employing medical and non-medical personnel for 20 years. Our courses are developed
by staff with over 35 years combined medical experience. We are available to teach any of the courses listed below, or we
can write a course specific to your needs. We have provided training to physician and dental offices, nursing homes,
ACLF's, day care centers, and churches in Duval, Nassau and Clay counties. We are available to go to your facility or a
training site of your choice, or we can accommodate up to 18 students at a time in our own new state of the art classroom.
Our classroom is equipped with a plasma TV, computer with internet, smart board technology, power point, VCR and DVD

Hour AIDS/HIV Course
This course has been designed around the Florida requirements for AIDS/HIV Training for Nurses, Physicians, and allied
health workers, including employees of programs for the developmentally disabled and Adult Living Facilities. It includes
the history of AIDS/HIV; HIV Virus information, Pathology and Physiology, associated opportunistic infections, modes of
transmission, current treatment options, prevention strategies, patient confidentiality and legal aspects, exposure
prevention and post-exposure prophylaxis and treatment. We have an online version if you wish to take the course online.

1-2 Hour AIDS/HIV Course
This course is again designed to meet applicable requirements for training established for healthcare practitioners and
facility staff. It covers on a much less detailed manner, all of the content in the 4 hour course.

First Aid Training
Through our affiliation with the National Safety Council, we offer first aid courses ranging in length from 2 to 40 hours.
We even have an online course available for purchase through the NSC. For information on the online first aid, email us.
Courses can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the facility or business. Topics range, but are not limited to safety
and infection control, patient assessment, airway control, CPR, control of bleeding, splinting and bandaging, environmental
emergencies, just to name a few. Taught by certified instructors, this course meets all applicable OSHA and DCF
requirements for facility first aid training.

Patient Evacuation 1 hour
Written by a 30+ year veteran paramedic, this course is based on lessons learned from the complete evacuation of 4
skilled nursing facilities in the northeast Florida area and covers a wide variety of evacuation scenarios from fire to
terrorism. Employees will learn when to evacuate, how to safety evacuate patients, where to evacuate them to in
differing circumstances, safe moving techniques and even when NOT to evacuate patients.

Disaster Preparedness for Healthcare Facilities 2 hours
This course was developed in response to the growing concern for disaster preparedness as a result of 9/11, and the storms
of 2004 and 2005. This will equip key personnel in developing an all hazards approach to disaster preparedness. We will
address all four areas of disaster preparedness: preparation, mitigation, response and recovery. It is taught by a paramedic
with over 30 years experience in preparation and response to disasters. His qualifications include being a member and past
President of the First Coast Disaster Council, and a member or the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association with over
100 hours of disaster training and experience during activation of the Duval County EOC in 2004 and 2005, and a candidate
for certification as a Florida Associate Emergency Manager..

Oxygen Administration in the Acute and Chronic Patient 1 hour
Oxygen administration is one of the most common tasks we do in healthcare, but do we really always remember that
oxygen is a drug? This course covers oxygen basics from choosing the proper delivery device to the proper flow rate.
We will uncover some common misconceptions and pitfalls when giving oxygen to both the acutely ill and chronically ill
patients.

Emergency Stroke Care 4 hours
A credentialed instructor through both the National Stroke Association and the University of Miami Stroke Education
Program will lead you through a 4 hour program in how to recognize and appropriately deal with a patient suffering an
acute stroke. Proper recognition and referral to a Primary or Comprehensive Stroke Center is critical for the acute stroke
patient. Studies have proved that intervention within 3 hours in a stroke significantly reduces the morbidity (Disability) of
a stroke.

Infection Control and Bloodborne Pathogens 1-2 hours
Based on the guidelines set forth by OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogen Standard this 1-2 hour program will present general
guidelines for infection control and preventing exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the workplace.

Exposure Control for Tuberculosis 1-2 hours
Are your employees trained in the most up-to-date Tuberculosis information? How often to do test your employees? This
course will explain many common misconceptions about Tuberculosis and TB testing of healthcare workers, based on the
OSHA TB Standard and Information from the CDC and the Francis J. Curry National TB Center.

Antibiotic Resistant Pathogens 1 hour
What is MRSA, ORSA or C.Diff? What would you need to know if a patient was identified as having one of these
infections? What are the isolation guidelines? This course will lay out basic infection control and isolation procedures for
the most common antibiotic resistant pathogens, MRSA, VRE, C-Dificile, Klebsiella Pnuemoniae, E. coli and P. aeruginosa
